How can a sketchbook be experienced beyond that of the intimacy and familiarity of the hands of its own creator? Sketchbooks are visual and spatial experiences that are both shaped in time and experienced in time. Pages can mark out days or even weeks of time as ideas take shape slowly or fill with the sudden rapid momentum of a fast run of creative thoughts and drawings. They can capture in a glance something fleeting or mark out a particular thought or memory to be held and fixed in time. In this section a series of sketchbooks are laid open to view through the medium of film and to explore what can be discovered within them when considered as pockets of time.
